Leonard Peterson and Co. was founded in 1890 by a Swedish immigrant for whom the company is named.
40 years later, his grandnephew, Oscar Walter Lethander would join the family business.
Spending many years in the engineering department, he was present with the company through WW2, the Space Race, the Civil Rights era, Vietnam, and the Cold War. Becoming president in the early 70s, he would oversee the company’s move from Chicago, Il to Auburn, AL, in 1980 (90 years after its founding).
The OWL – Leonard Peterson expansion is named to honor Oscar and remember the tradition of quality that he inherited, honored, and passed down for much of the 20th century.
